Cargo Driver

Job Description

GELUX SARL is seeking a skilled and reliable Cargo Driver to join our Transport Team. The role involves operating cargo trucks for local and international deliveries, ensuring the safe and timely transport of goods, properly loading and securing cargo, maintaining the vehicle in good working condition, and managing all transport documentation with accuracy and care.

Requirements

• Be between 25 and 45 years of age
• Be in good physical and mental health
• Hold a valid passport 
• Possess a valid heavy-duty driving license
• Demonstrate honesty, discipline, and professionalism
• Be available for national and international travel

Responsibilities

• Operate cargo trucks (4×2, 6×2, and 8×2) with a capacity exceeding 8 tons
• Ensure the safe transport and delivery of general goods
• Load and unload goods (or supervise handling operations)
• Plan and organize delivery routes efficiently
• Maintain good relationships with clients during deliveries
• Verify the conformity of delivered goods (quantity and condition)
• Manage delivery notes and ensure proper document signing
• Respect delivery deadlines and assigned routes
• Maintain the cleanliness and good condition of the truck

Skills

• Excellent driving skills for cargo vehicles
• Good knowledge of road safety regulations
• Strong communication skills and sense of responsibility
• Proficiency in French (written and spoken) and Swahili
• Knowledge of English is an advantage
• Ability to work under pressure and in demanding environments
• Strong organizational skills and discipline
• Strong customer service orientation (essential for cargo operations)
• Ability to plan and organize delivery routes efficiently
• Physical ability to handle goods when required
• Punctual and reliable

Experiences and qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in cargo truck driving
• Hold at least a State Diploma (or equivalent)
• Certification in heavy-duty vehicle driving is an advantage
• Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics
• Clean criminal record
• Provide at least 3 professional references (former employers)
